so i finally figured out what it is about the “we do share a more profound bond” scene that’s been bugging me for literally like a year, and it’s not that line itself but the one immediately after it. cas turns to dean and says, “i wasn’t going to mention it.”
this implies that dean knew. dean was aware that he and cas share a more profound bond, and cas knows that dean knows. how would cas know that dean knows that unless they had talked about it before? “i wasn’t going to mention it” as in “you’ve told me not to tell your brother this, but it seemed like the only option in our current situation.” what i’m saying is that cas and dean are secretly fucking.
